the pain of my erosion
COMMISSIONED by Texas Christian University for the School of Contemporary and Classical Dance
World premiere: April 2024 at TCU in Fort Worth, TX
For the sake of this note the word ‘earth’ also means ‘self’.
Relationships are essential to ecology. Organisms exist in relation to one another, and, like nature, we are influenced by our environment and evolving conditions of life. Much like relationships, ecology is messy. For the pain of my erosion, I am inspired by the mess of the self, relationships, and soil. We have the power to plunder the earth and to plow the soil to the point of no return, but we also have the power to rehabilitate our sequester of carbon and restore the earth.
