How to Make Your Own Deodorant that Actually Works
5 Simple Steps
I have spent YEARS, a lot of money, and so many pit stained shirts trying to find an All Natural Deodorant that actually works.
And you know what I found?! Make it yourself!
Not only does making it yourself put it in the awesome Zero Waste Box but you can actually adjust it to your specific needs. And guess what friends who are allergic to coconut - this is COCONUT FREE!
I got this recipe from Healing Harvest Homestead - they are amazing - check them out.
Ingredients:
3 tbsp Shea Butter
2 to 2 1/2 tbsp Baking Soda
3 tbsp Arrowroot powder (cornstarch could also work if you are unable to find arrowroot)
2 tbsp Cocoa Butter
About 3 drops or so Vitamin E oil
About 20 to 30 drops of your choice of Essential Oils (let your creativity take over here!)
8-16 ounce glass jar (reuse what you already have in your home!)
2 or 4 ounce glass jar (reuse what you already have in your home!)
Directions for Making your Deodorant
You can use a double boiler or what I’ll be doing is what Healing Harvest Homestead did which is to put 2-4 inches of cold water in a large cooking pot and add the larger glass with the butters into the pot
Add your Shea and Cacao Butter to the large glass jar. Put the jar in the cooking pot and bring the water to a LOW simmer. Keep the heat low because the glass jars have a tendency to break when too hot.
While the butter is melting, I add the Arrowroot, Baking Soda, and Vitamin E to a separate cup and mix together.
Once the butters are melted, I remove from the heat and very quickly stir in the powders and the Vitamin E oil.
Once everything is mixed together and cooled just a little but, I then drop in the essential oils and repeat stirring very quickly.
Pour the mixture into your smaller jar and place s in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to an hour so the butters can solidify.
